Our Old Mate on the road to recovery

Some photos we had taken while staying with Don and Debbie in Hampshire last week, we had a very enjoyable week, it was good for us both to have a change after all the months of my illness etc and it did Doris well to have a break after all she has done for me. I am back eating normal food now in small amounts, little and often, haven't put on a lot of weight but hopefully that will come in next few months.

Photo of Doris and I at Hampshire last week trying to put some weight on!!

Just to say how times flies. It’s coming up to a year since my operation on 3-12-2008 can’t believe where the time has gone, nearly six months gone since our Reunion. Is it us getting older Derek and as said how time seems to go so fast when one gets older. I haven’t put on much weight in the past months but I am eating and drinking very well, improved 100 per cent for eating, especially since the infamous crab sandwich incident. At the Lucknow Dinner last week I ate the biggest meal for over a long period of time, looking forward to Christmas with my family as last year was a NO NO – tubes in etc. I will make up for it this Christmas and a few drinks thrown in for good measure.

G’Day ‘Ole Mate.
Good to see your usage of this site. Not much happening over here these days- on the ‘Old Bloggers’ that is. Keep well Swanny and enjoy your family and friends. The passage of time seems to flow quicker as we age – where do the days go?

SOME CHANGES TO BLOG PAGE
You’ll note that some earlier photos of Doris’ 70th Birthday bash, that were previously published on Swanny’s (military) blogsite, have now been switched to this location. As you all know by now; Swanny is a great contributor to our sites and we have decided to keep separate the military slanted photos that he forwards, from the social and private collections.
Hereto the hotlink to Swanny’s other site

CORNISH PASTIES
Get a few in stock ‘Ole Mate, there’ll be a big rush on ‘em in Re-Union Week.

Terry, my daughter Moira was in doing Doris’s hair yesterday and she said Liam has grown more since that photo was taken. He eats proper Cornish home made pasties, cream teas etc, but is always on the go, surfing, boarding etc and is a drummer in a band at school; also on You Tube in the band at last year’s Mazy Day celebrations evening gig.

Dave, all of us in those days had detatchable lights that we would have to put on and take off before race meetings, no MOTs etc in them days! The DOT was very popular in those days all over the UK and motorcross was very popular sport. The Brits had a total of 8 world champions in Europe, to name one Geoff Smith.

Swanny, thanks for the info. I never followed Motorcross just the TT now and again.

Swanny, was that bike street legal, as I don’t see any lights on it, just curious thats all, have never seen one like it.

I will take my camera on Wednesday and get Swanny to smile nicely at the camera. The lovely ladies at the Printers will love him to bits.

ED, I didn’t mean the photo you put on the (Rogues Gallery) caption, I meant the one of the CROC with the arm in it’s mouth, sorry about that.
Swanny.
ED: Whoops Swanny. Still need a fresh close up if possible.

That caption Derek (Croc Header picture above) is like one of my dreams when I was having chemo! Will send some (personal) pics when Donald sorts my scans, I can’t get it to send emails at the moment.
ED: OK ‘Ole Mate – took that initial personal portrait pix down – didn’t do you justice anyway. When you’re ready – set your camera on “Portrait” and take a framed head and shoulders (in focus).
